About Herbal Garden
The Herbal Garden of our Ayurveda College is a vibrant living resource that supports the academic, practical, and research needs of students studying Dravyaguna, Panchakarma, and other clinical branches.
Spread across a well-maintained green landscape, the garden houses a wide variety of medicinal plants that help students directly observe, identify, and understand the classical herbs described in Ayurvedic texts.
The garden includes important species such as Guduchi, Shatavari, Nirgundi, Karavira, Dhattura, Sarpagandha, Plaksha, Raktachandana, Nimba, Palasha, Aragwadha, Bakula, Brahmi, Jambu, Vata, and many others. Each plant is labelled scientifically and classically to aid proper identification.
This herbal collection plays a key role in teaching the organoleptic and morphological characteristics of herbs, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in plant examination, pharmacognosy concepts, and practical learning required for Ayurvedic studies.
In addition to academic use, several plants such as Nirgundi, Snuhi,Tulsi, Guduchi, Vata, and others are important contributors to our Ayurvedic college Rasa shastra Department in formulating different yoga for our hospital pharmacy. Their presence in the garden helps students understand their real-world application in therapeutic preparations.
Well-structured pathways, demonstration areas, and thoughtfully arranged plant sections make the herbal garden an engaging learning environment. It stands as an essential educational space that bridges theoretical knowledge with practical botanical understanding and instils respect for the natural foundations of Ayurvedic medicine.
